BaxterStorey gains sustainable restaurant accreditation
BaxterStorey, the UK's largest independent contract catering company, has been awarded two star champion status by the Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) for its sustainable catering at a leading financial institution.
This accreditation was achieved collaboratively between BaxterStorey and Johnson Controls on behalf of their financial client and was the result of a comprehensive assessment looking at all aspects of the catering operation in the client's London office, including sourcing, environment and society.
"We are delighted to have received champion status for BaxterStorey's continual focus on working sustainably in our client's premises," said Noel Mahony, Chief Executive of BaxterStorey. "The award will help our customers to recognise that the food they eat at work is sourced and prepared in an ethical and environmentally-friendly way."
The SRA commended BaxterStorey for its extensive sourcing of LEAF and organic certified fruit and vegetables, its use of rainforest alliance certified tea and ethically sourced coffee and sugar, its commitment to sustainable fish sourcing, plus the company's extensive use of seasonal produce and sourcing of free-range eggs.
BaxterStorey was also recognised for its strong central environmental management system accredited to ISO14001, which BaxterStorey has had since 2007.
The Sustainable Restaurant Association is a not for profit membership organisation helping restaurants become more sustainable and diners make more sustainable choices when dining out. It recognises restaurants as one, two or three star sustainability champions depending on how they rate against a wide range of criteria covering 14 areas of sustainability.
